Previously known as the Classic and Historical Automobile Club of Monaro Region, the “Cooma Car Club” was officially incorporated as The Cooma Monaro Historic Automobile Club Inc ( a non-profit organization) on 8 March 2002.
The club was formed with the principal objective of bringing together persons with a common interest to encourage the use, maintenance and presentation of motor vehicles without prejudice to make, model, method of manufacture or country, and other vehicles of interest that are at least 30 years old. The principal is strongly observed today.
The club meets 7:00 pm on the first monday of each month at the club's new clubhouse on Bolaro St which is pictured above.
The club is purely social in nature and actively supports the local community by donations to various charities.
Approximately 120 members from the southern Monaro area actively support a wide range of regular monthly club events and combine to host two major events, the Snowy Mountains Classic Tour and the Cooma Motorfest on an alternating yearly basis.
In 2009 the club proudly hosted its 6th Cooma Motorfest at the Cooma Showground in November in support of the Monaro Committee for Cancer Research. Motorfest 2009 attracted some 400 displays across all classes and a magnificent day’s entertainment was had by participants and some 4500 spectators alike. See details for this event in 2011 on the following pages.
