Fresh from an epic multi continental adventure - through 80 countries - in a 1928 Bean following the footsteps of Francis Birtles, the Cooma Car Club are delighted to welcome WARREN BROWN AM – Guest Speaker and “Surf to Summit” entrant.
Together with the 1928 Bean, Warren Brown and the Bean have entered this year's Surf to Summit.
Some years ago, Warren stumbled on the true story of a pioneering Australian motorist, Francis Birtles, who set out to drive a 'Bean' car from London to Melbourne in 1927.

For nine months Birtles rattled through Europe, Turkey, Iran and India, through murderous mountain ranges and blustering blizzards.
Warren has just returned from his epic journey to re-create the adventures of Francis Birtles, using the very same model of car and 1920s outfits.
He and his co-pilot Matthew Benns travelled through 80 countries in the magnificently authentic Bean in searing heat and pouring rain while recreating Beans' escapades.
To Warren and Mathew's great surprise, while they were enroute through Saudi Arabia, they became "accidental" celebrities.
Entrants in this year’s Surf to Summit will hear all about it at the Saturday night Gala Dinner!
Warren Brown's adventures across the globe were supported by Ampol Australia and Harvey Norman. Entrants is this year's Surf to Summit need to be aware that media attention for the event will be at an all-time high.

The Great Snowy Mountains Touring Classic is a motoring event for cars 30 years and over (or replicas of vehicles 30 years and over) conducted over three days in the Monaro Region, the NSW South Coast and the Snowy Mountains. The event is a TOURING CLASSIC, similar to the rallies and tours in the classic style - but without the speed. It's a fabulous event for those who enjoy meeting like-minded owners of classic vehicles for a leisurely drive through the stunning Snowy Mountains visiting towns and communities along the way.
This event attracts entries from all over Eastern Australia and you can now be part of it.
The 2025 Surf to Summit will be our most demanding...but in a leisurely fashion. The roads, all sealed, wind their way east and west. Spectacular scenery abounds.
